President and Co-Owner

Dwight Smith, President and co-founder of Hamill Creek Timber Homes, has devoted over three decades to the art and craft of timber framing. In 1990, he and his wife, Debbie, turned their passion for this unique building method into a thriving business after constructing their own timber frame home in Argenta, BC. Dwight’s expertise as a journeyman carpenter and passion for the craft, combined with Debbie’s enthusiastic support, transformed their dream into a successful business started in their backyard garage.

Today, Hamill Creek Timber Homes operates from a state-of-the-art facility in Meadow Creek, BC, employing over 25 staff members. The company has built and shipped timber frame homes across North America, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and as far as Australia and Japan.

Outside of work, Dwight enjoys fishing, golfing, and playing hockey in the winter. He remains grateful for the clients, community support, and dedicated employees who have been key to the company’s success.
