The Wing Creek house is the first of the new homes to be built in the Wing Creek development on the waterfront of beautiful Kootenay Lake, just outside of Kaslo, British Columbia. This 20 acre waterfront residential community estate, nestled between the Purcell and Selkirk mountains, is surrounded by lush forest, gardens and hiking trails. For more information about the Wing Creek Development visit the Wing Creek Resort webpage.
In keeping with the resort’s environmental consciousness, this home meets the high-efficiency guidelines and environmental standards of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification program. For more information about the LEED certification program and the Canadian Green Building Council that fosters it visit their website.
Living up to the beautiful site and high environmental standards, the Wing Creek house was deigned to incorporate natural materials of wood and stone and to sit unobtrusively on its site. The windows and walk-out covered deck all have views of the lake and surrounding mountains. The open plan living room, dining room and kitchen flow into each other underneath a feature chord truss, and the kitchen and dining area are flooded with natural light from clerestory windows in a roof gable. To fit in with the naturally forested site, the exterior of the home is finished with green board and batten siding, rock facings, and natural wood trim.
